I have motion sickness and this kind of long distance scared the hell out of me. Everyone is saying to better go with a plane instead, which is what we are trying for at first but there are literally no flights available from Borg El Arab on our travel date. I think they only have flights every Thursday and Monday which will not work for us. They are also very expensive. We tried to check the flights as well from Cairo and they are kind of reasonable although the time is also not going to work for us since we have work at night and the flights mostly are 12am and Alex to Cairo is also around 3 hours.
So, we decided to go with car. We book a private limousine that will take us to Sharm directly. Honestly, I thought limousines are those long-ass cars and when my husband told me limousine, I thought he was joking. I’m like what the hell do you need a limousine for? Anyway, it looks like that is what they call the private cars here. It is just a simple sedan.
There is also an option to go via public bus but personally, I think it is a hassle. The bus is the cheapest option. Here in Egypt, there are apps and websites that you can use to book those transports.
My First Ever 8-hour Trip via Car
I never traveled this long in a car. We left 2:30 am in Alex and we arrived around 10:30am. I was almost sleeping the whole way, and I am surprised that I didn’t get dizzy at all.
My husband paid around EGP 9500 back and forth.
It’s crazy to see how whenever I woke up from my nap it’s a completely different scenery and I am so happy to experience this kind of beauty. The Sinai Mountain is massive and insanely gorgeous.
Security Checks on the Way
We were checked for about 3 times while on the way. They checked my passport and IDs of everyone. I think this is some kind of security protocol because at the time we are going, the Egyptian President El Sisi just has his meeting with American President Trump, so they are checking everyone.
