There are different ways in getting to Macau from Hong Kong, but the easiest way is via Ferry. The transportation in Hong Kong is a little pricy and if you go via plane, just the uber to the airport will costs you a lot. However, if you go via Ferry, not only will you get the fare for a cheaper price, it is also very accessible as the terminal is in Central Hong Kong.
Where to Book Your Ferry Tickets
You can book your ferry ride through the main website of Cotai Water Jet or via Klook.
Currently, Cotai Water Jet is running a promotion this year that you can take advantage of. It is the “Fly You to Macao – Free Ferry Ticket Offer” Make sure to visit their website for more information.
“From May 1 to December 31, 2025, international travelers (excluding residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) can enjoy a free one-way Cotai Class ferry ticket from Hong Kong to Macau.“

How to Get to Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal
Personally, we used uber to go around Hong Kong. We were staying in Tsim Sha Tsui when we went there and uber costs us HKD155.70. Alternatively, you may use taxi or bus, but it is best to always check with the hotel you are staying at because there are some who offer free shuttle to the terminal.
For example, Bishop Lei International House offers free shuttle service to the terminal. We stayed with them before going to Tsim Sha Tsu where we stayed with Attitude in Granville.
Immigration to Macau
The immigration is very easy upon leaving Hong Kong but upon arrival to Macau, we got stopped at the immigration and was questioned in a secured room. My husband has an Egyptian passport, and they had a good look in our itinerary, and he was only given 4 nights of stay permit (our itinerary is for 3 nights) although if you search online, Egyptian passport holders can stay up to 90 days.
Please note that: Pictures and videos are not allowed at all in the terminal.
It is very important to have itinerary at hand so you are always ready whenever you are questioned. Here are the list of files we have prepared with us:
- Full tour itinerary
- Hotel Booking confirmation
- Return tickets to Hong Kong
Those are the things they look at upon interviewing us before granting entry to Macau. Here’s a quick look at how our itinerary looks like.

We don’t really have a tour and it’s mostly about us staying in the hotel for leisure time and there is really no problem about that. If you want to know how our stay in Parisian Macao goes, you can read this article >> PARISIAN MACAU
There is no Uber in Macau
Yup! There is none. They utilize local taxi in there. However, the Parisian Macao and other hotels on their group like Venetian Macao, Londoner, etc. offers a free shuttle bus that is scheduled to leave every 10-12 minutes which is completely free! No booking, whatsoever getting checked, just lined up in there and it will take you to the hotel for free. From there you can ride a cab to wherever you want to go. Those hotels have malls with it as well that you can enjoy.

Some Fun Experience to Share
We are always running late, and we arrived at the terminal around 10 mins before it leaves, with immigration and everything plus a lot of running, we made it to the ferry and at the time we get inside, it started moving. Crazy experience. I thought we going to be left behind. Same goes with the return, we are also almost late, and the adrenaline is crazy but we made it on time again!
